About the F-Gas Training Course

If you’re working with refrigeration, air conditioning, or heat pump systems, F-Gas certification is not optional—it’s a legal requirement.

Our F-Gas course provides hands-on training with real systems, ensuring you are confident and competent in installing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining equipment containing Fluorinated Gases.

You’ll gain knowledge of refrigerant handling, leak checking, safe recovery, commissioning, and compliance with F-Gas regulations. With Category 1 and Category 2 options available, the course suits both new entrants and experienced engineers.

Category 1 is the most comprehensive, covering all system sizes, while Category 2 allows work on smaller systems (less than 3kg of refrigerant, or 6kg for hermetically sealed units).

How is the F-Gas course delivered?

Training takes place in our fully equipped centre, designed to replicate real-world working conditions. Sessions are led by experienced instructors who combine classroom learning with extensive hands-on practice.

You’ll work with live systems in our dedicated refrigeration suite, giving you practical skills that back up the theory.

How is the F-Gas Training Course assessed?

Assessment is both practical and written. You’ll be tested on your ability to handle refrigerants safely, carry out leak checks, complete installations, and follow environmental regulations.

Successful candidates will receive a Level 3 accredited certificate for their relevant category achieved, which is a recognised qualification required to register with REFCOM.

What are the next steps after earning F-Gas Qualification?

With F-Gas certification, you’ll be legally qualified to:

  • Install and service air conditioning systems
  • Maintain and repair refrigerant-based heat pumps
  • Expand your business into both heating and cooling services

Many candidates combine this qualification with our Air Source Heat Pump Training, giving them the full skill set needed to install, commission, and maintain renewable heating and cooling systems.
